Project Vision
To create a landscape hotel that not only integrates into the natural surroundings but also conveys a deep emotional narrative. The spaces are designed to tell a story, evoking feelings of tranquility, reflection, and connection. We aim to create an experience that goes beyond the physical space—where art, storytelling, and architecture converge to immerse guests in a unique journey.
While the spaces will be architecturally stunning, the imagery and overall aesthetic should also express the intangible aspects of the project: the serenity of nature, the art of slow living, and the depth of human experience. The design should feel poetic, with art and visual storytelling interwoven into each element, offering moments of beauty, stillness, and contemplation.
Architectural Requirements
Scope of the Project
- Keys: 10-15 guest units (spaces)
- Building Size: Spaces will range from 350 to 750 square feet, providing a sense of openness for guests.
- Target Budget: Each unit must stay within $130,000.
Design Principles
- Hybrid Design Concept: The spaces should be a fusion between a large hotel room and a retreat-like environment (not referred to as cabins). These units must feel open and luxurious, but also designed for practicality and comfort.
- Storytelling and Art Integration: Each space should visually and emotionally reflect key themes such as connection, reflection, and mindfulness. This can be achieved through thoughtful design details, art pieces, and the play of light and texture. These spaces should invite guests to feel a deeper sense of place and presence.
Sectors for Human Experience
Each unit must be designed to support various activities that reflect the human need for connection, mindfulness, and relaxation:
- Cooking: A space that invites guests to engage in food preparation in a mindful and enjoyable way.
- Eating: A dining space that fosters togetherness and connection.
- Gazing and Reflecting: Spaces with expansive views and thoughtfully placed seating to encourage guests to pause, gaze at the surroundings, and reflect.
- Water: Each unit should feature a water element, such as a bath or water feature, inspired by rituals like soaking or meditation by water.
- Sleeping: The sleeping area must be a sanctuary, offering tranquility and comfort with simple yet luxurious materials.
- Gathering: A space for guests to come together in conversation or for quiet, shared moments.
- Meditating: Incorporate a small, private area or space that encourages meditation, mindfulness, or quiet reflection.
Some of these sectors can overlap, they don’t have to be separate rooms, but a ben diagram.
Design Elements
- Water: Spaces should incorporate natural water elements or inspiration from water, whether in the form of Japanese-style soaking baths, natural water features, or reflective pools.
- Light: Maximize natural light to enhance the connection with the outdoors and create shifts in atmosphere throughout the day.
- Earth Materials: Focus on materials that bring nature indoors—natural wood, stone, and earth textures.
- Star-Gazing Rooms: Design elements like large windows, skylights, or retractable ceilings to create a space for star-gazing and deep reflection.
Practical Design and Support for the Architect
Functional and Practical Solutions
The spaces must balance aesthetic beauty with practical functionality. Each unit should be designed with guest storage needs in mind, with comfortable closets, hidden spaces for luggage, and integrated shelving systems for clothes and personal items.
Flexibility in Kitchen and Dining Spaces
We are open to exploring new design concepts for kitchen and dining spaces that go beyond traditional layouts. However, these spaces must still feel cohesive with the overall theme and practical for guests to use without feeling like a separate part of the unit.
Visual Storytelling and Investor Engagement
The architect must also create imagery and visual representations that tell the story of the project, not just of the buildings. The visual content should express the feelings and emotional journey we wish guests to experience. From the calmness of nature to the excitement of discovering unique details, each visual should serve as an emotional touchpoint. This imagery will play a crucial role in engaging investors, showcasing the project as a unique, experience-driven development.
Remarks
The landscape hotel project is a fusion of design, nature, and human connection. We are looking to bring a deep understanding of both the technical and emotional aspects of the project, creating spaces that resonate on multiple levels—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
