the overlook

location:
rocky mountains - mccall - idaho

the overlook began with a belief: architecture should bring people closer, to nature and to each other.

a space set carefully into the landscape, built to let families and friends gather under one roof while still holding space for solitude, privacy, and reflection.

drawing from the raw wilderness of central idaho: dense ponderosa forests, alpine lakes, mountain air, and the humility of high west cabins and ranches, the architecture stays restrained. solid wood forms, simple gabled volumes, and covered outdoor spaces draw movement around the site. the retreat offers an analog anchor: the untamed landscape outside, uncompromising comfort within.

located in mccall, idaho, a scenic two-hour drive north of boise.

minutes from payette lake and the slopes of brundage mountain, the outlook embodies a refined heritage aesthetic, where tactile layers of leather, wool, and raw timber blur the line between the interior and the wild landscape seen through expansive glass.

the space spans roughly 2,900 square feet and includes a primary suite, two guest rooms, and an additional suite across the breezeway, accommodating up to 8 guests.

  • two hours north of boise, the outlook sits in idaho's rocky mountains, on the shore of payette lake. it's the kind of place that still feels undiscovered: an unpretentious mountain town built around four-season recreation, without the polish or crowds of better-known destinations out west.
